About the Original 291Club
The Original 291Club is a Variety & Talent Comepetition
The Original 291Club is essentially a variety show and a talent competition staged at a theatre.
If you were fortunate enough to attend one of the shows at the Hackney Empire, London, then you would have had the entire 291Club experience where the first half was made up of guest artist, of all kinds and audience games with Curtis & Ishmel, Tony Gully and many more were hilarious LooooooL. By the time the second half started the audience were completely fired up and ready for the Talent Competition in the second half LooooL!!!
Well, whether you watched it on LWT or Channel 4, I have got great news for you, the show is back with some new twists and just as much fun as you remember it back in the 90s.
We are pleased to tell you that after the success of the TO291Club 2019 Summer Edition 'Celebrating the Windrush Generation' and of course the Talent Competition at the Watford Palace Theatre which was co produced by (DJ) Elayne Smith TO291Club Director and Andrea Haynes BBC Director, we decided to team up again and bring you an all dayer at the Watford Colosseum.
The day will features Exhibitors, 'Tea with the Mayor' Peter Taylor, Q&A with the Mayor, a Cake Tasting Competition, TO291Club Talent Competition, Comedy, Create Your Family Tree with Adrian Stone, Food & Drink, be photographed in a Windrush Era styled Front Room, a Short Play called 'Neighbours', Ansel Collins performing his top ten hit songs ‘Double Barrel’, ‘Monkey Spanner’, Jumping Jack Frost performing his hit singles ‘Big Bad & Heavy’ and ‘Mrs Jones’, an After Party with Victor Vader & Local DJ, tribute performances to, Aretha Franklin, Dennis Brown, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Bob Marley to name a few greats to be saluted!!!
Our aim is to present a vibrant family all day event depicting a sample of ‘The Windrush Era’ anytime between 1945 and 1970s
We have produced a Windrush show that will have you eating, talking, singing laughing, dancing and maybe even crying.
The legendary 'TO291Club Talent Competition' boasts contestants who became household names, like Eternal, Skunk Anansie to name but two. Contestants that failed to impress the audience are booed of stage. The acts which do manage to finish their performances are then graded by our panel of industry judges who select's their combined three favourite contestants. The top three contestants are brought back on stage for the audience to choose the winner by the loudest and longest applause from the crowd. This system is called the "Judges Choice and the People's Voice".
